Dear Pastor and friends,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
WOW!
We have now been back from Africa for two weeks and things have not slowed down. We hit the road running having two days to prepare our motor home and leave for Florida to be in a Missions Conference in Orlando. Upon arriving in Rochester we found that our car needed repairs, and we praise the Lord for our mechanic, Bob Kaiser, who was working on it right until the time we left Rochester on Sunday the 2nd of September. On the way to Florida Sue started getting sick, and realized she had a yeast and urine infection. Then after the first night of the conference she started having malaria type systems. We took her to emergency at a local hospital on Thursday where the infections were confirmed, and they found out she also had pneumonia. She was admitted to the hospital only to find out she also had a kidney infection and a E. coli bacteria in her blood. Praise the Lord she does not have malaria. As you can see she could use a lot of prayer.
The trip to Africa was great with a lot of blessings. During the first part of the trip Pastor Mark Smith and three men from his church in Tacoma, Washington taught a Pastors refresher course to about 140 nationals, and presented each one of them with a pastor’s kit with various books, a study Bible, and other materials to help them in the ministry. During the next part of the trip Pastor Dave Brown from E. Longmeadow, MA. arrived with 19 people from their church and taught VBS, pastors, deacons and Sunday school teachers along with preaching our annual Bible Conference. During the last part of the trip Pastor Smith, me and the other men from his church traveled to Botswana to preach and teach a 2 day leadership conference. We had three saved on Sunday and 12 at the conference. The following are the results of the meetings etc. in Zambia:
1992 registered children attended VBS
7942 registered adults attended regular conference
9934 registered for entire conference
122 churches represented out of 216
348 adult professions of faith
767 children professions of faith
1115 total professions of faith
127 baptized during the conference
Starting on Sunday morning October 14th through the 17th we will be having our second annual I AM Conference at Savannah Baptist Temple, 1151 Mohawk Street, Savannah, GA 31419. Pastor Porter will be our host and we pray that you will be able to attend.
