June 2009

After looking back over the month of June, we have been going in every which direction! Bible Institute has been going well. The students seem to be settling and really absorbing and enjoying their classes. We only have a couple of classes until this term is over. Seems like things just started! Savannah and I took a trip to Lusaka to visit some brethren and do some shopping. Although we had marvelous plan to go and do many things we left with only a few items crossed off our list.

I was asked to preach at a youth conference in one of the Luanshya mine areas. It was a great time! The theme was obedience. After all the dust settled, I was told 44 youth committed their lives to Christ. The Lord continues to bless the preaching of His word. It is now a matter of discipleship so these new followers of Christ may be rooted and grounded.

Visited the following churches:

- Country Side Baptist – Pastor Kunda is in the midst of a building project. He has taken this small congregation and really rallied them to build and move forward.

- Milulu Bible Baptist – this church was three hours from the mission down some rough roads. It was well worth it as many came to receive Christ.

- Kaloko Bible Baptist – if you visit our blog (kevinpestke.blogspot.com) you will see the rough condition of this church. Pastor Benson has taken this church over and tried to breathe new life. However, there is still a lot of work to be done.

- Chishitu Bible Baptist – it took us just over 4 hours to arrive at church. I was impressed with Pastor Godfrey and his congregation. They are in a very rural area but they seem to have a solid vision and focus for the glorification of Christ. The pastor is attending some Bible training given by one of our NSBI graduates.

- Bethsaida Bible Baptist – church had about 50-55 in attendance. I was able to speak with the pastor at length before the service. He gave me some good insight into the difficulties facing the church and how better to be praying.

The next two months promises to be our busiest. Savannah will be finishing her ladies Bible class next week. From there, we will be traveling about 8 hours to Mpika to help preach / teach a conference at Antioch Bible Baptist Church concerning building the house of God. We come back to a week-long Pastor Refresher Course in which we expect 70-80 pastors to attend. There is no time to relax as preparations for our August Bible Conference will be going on simultaneously. We expect another 4,000-5,000 to come for our adult conference with maybe 1,000 kids for our VBS. Obviously there is much that goes on behind the scene for this to all be successful. However, without your prayers I fear all this effort will be in vain. I am asking you to pray from 2 Thes 3:1 “the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified”.

The Lord continues to be faithful and bless us through the many of you that give, pray, and write. Savannah and I are so thankful to our God for all your efforts and love towards us! To God be the Glory!
