August 2011 Update From the Andersons
August 07, 2011
Dear Pastor and Friends,
I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
Please continue praying for Sue as she recovers from her hip surgery. She is healing very well and has advanced from a walker to a cane. Sure would be nice to have her with me.
I am now in Zambia after spending 10 days in Swaziland with our eldest son Scott, his wife Candy and 2 of our grandchildren Evan and Elena. I had the opportunity to preach in one of the churches and after church Evan went to his dad Scott and said he needed to talk with him. Later that night he said to his dad, when pop pop was giving the invitation I wanted to go forward to ask Jesus to save me but I wanted to talk with you first.
After talking with his father and many tears Scott had the opportunity to lead his son to the Lord. Praise the Lord! Every morning before we started the day working in the churches we had group prayer at 5:45 AM and Evan who was my roommate said pop pop don’t forget to set the alarm so we can go pray, and every morning he and his pop pop was at prayer time.
Evan and Elena both jumped right in and helped with the children at the church we were working with. The children there loved them. One afternoon I heard children singing and I turned around to see my 10 year old grandson marching with about 30 children singing songs about Jesus. Then all of a sudden Evan stops turns to the children and says "would you like me to read to you from the Bible. All the kids said yes! By then there was about 60 children sitting in a circle around Evan while he read the creation story from the Bible and the Pastor of the church translated for him. The next day the Pastor asked him today it again. This time it was about Noah and the ark. Wow!! Pop pop was in tears! The last day as we were getting ready to leave the Pastor of the church said Preacher Evan would you come and pray for us. Again Wow!!! What a trip! Three generations of the Anderson’s ministering on the Mission Field.
I am now in Zambia for our annual VBS/Bible Conference with the Bonners, Michael Suver from our church in Florida, Jessica Scheer from FBBC in the Buffalo area, Dr. and Mrs. Johnny Pope, and Dr. Jim Brown.
Michael and I went out to one of the bush churches this morning and we had a man by the name of Michael Katambo come forward and make a Profession of Faith. Please pray for his growth and for him as he is running to be a Member of Parliament, which is the equivalent of a US Senator.
Please pray for VBS, which started tonight and we have approximately 800 children right now with many more on the way.
Thank you for your prayers and all of you that helped me financially for this trip. Praise God!
In Christ’s Service,
Dennis and Sue Anderson
